What's up with all these changes?!                                                                               Antoinette  Curl

Keywords: undergraduate catalog, EC-4, EC-6, 120 hours

Everything on campus seems to be under construction right now.  It's all so confusing!  Even the degree programs are changing.  That's right, even the degree programs!  Did you know that a new undergraduate catalog is coming out in the Fall?  Most degree programs are going to require fewer hours -- from 128 hours down to 120 hours.  You're not going to be forced to update to the new catalog requirements, but you can elect to change to the new catalog (just like you can elect the next president!).  Academic advisors have information about these changes and can explain how they might effect you.  Another change is happening with EC-4 teacher certification.  The State is phasing out the EC-4 certificates in favor of a new EC-6 certificate.  This is really good news because it means that you'll have more flexibility when it comes to finding a job after graduation.  The standards for the new certificate haven't been released yet, but they should be in place by Fall 2009.  It's a lot to think about, and it's kind of overwhelming.  But, at the same time, it's super exciting -- kind of like the new Concho Green that's taking shape...

Students enjoying Sewell Park

It's so grey and rainy out today -- it makes me long for summer. I can't wait for the weather to warm up and the sun to come out. I keep thinking about my plans for summer -- vacations, classes, work. By total coincidence, the schedule of classes for summer came out today on CatsWeb. I started checking it out. There are a lot of classes offered in the summer. It seems like a long time away, but registration for summer will begin right after Spring Break, which is really just around the corner. Time to break out the bikini! In fact, when the weather gets warmer in March, advisors are going to be in Sewell Park on Friday afternoons to advise students and help them access their degree audit reports. That should be cool. I'm excited about that. So, start thinking about those summer plans, check out the schedule of classes, and look for us in Sewell Park.
