Minors

Special Education

A minor in Special Education requires 21 hours, including SPED 2360, 3338, 3390, 4344, 4345, 4374, and 4381. This minor does not lead directly to teacher certification in Special Education.

Coaching Athletics

A minor in Coaching Athletics requires 24 hours, including PE 1310, 3317, 3117, 3320, 3329 and AT 2356, two theoretical courses selected from PE 3340, 4391, 4392, or 4393, and the coaching practicum, PE 4337. This minor is not available to students majoring in Exercise and Sports Science.

Exercise and Sports Science

A minor in Exercise and Sports Science requires 24 hours, including PE 1310, 3317, 3117, 3320, 4323 or 3329, 4351, AT 2356, 3 hours PE Elective Theory, and 3 PE major/minor activity courses (PE 1170-1192). This minor is not available to students majoring in Exercise and Sports Science.

Health and Wellness Promotion

A minor in Health and Wellness Promotion requires 24 hours, including H ED 1310, 2338, 2340, 3301, 3348, 3350, 4340, and 4350. This minor is not available to students majoring in Health and Wellness Promotion.

Recreational Administration

A minor in Recreational Administration requires 21 hours, including REC 1310, 2330, 2335, 3325, 4381, and six hours selected from: REC 1330, 3340, 3351, 4330, or 4350. This minor is not available to students majoring in Recreational Administration.

Second Teaching Field in Health

A second teaching field in Health will lead to teacher certification in Early Childhood through Grade 12 Health. This second teaching field is only available to students seeking teacher certification in Grades 8 through 12 or in an All-level content area. A second teaching field in Health requires 27 hours, including H ED 1310, 2338, 3321, 2354, 3342, 3348, 3360, 4336, and 3301 or 3350.
