Invitational Summer Institute

writers

The Invitational Summer Institute is the core of our professional development programming and an activity that is conducted by all 200+ sites of the National Writing Project across the nation. Teachers who apply for and attend the CTWP Invitational Summer Institute engage with other teachers and site directors to share and explore effective teaching strategies. The participants meet for four weeks at the Texas State University campus and receive six hours of graduate credit through the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. In addition to the summer event, the CTWP offers yearlong site-based institutes to area school districts and education service centers. Teachers who complete an institute become Teacher Consultants for the National Writing Project.
