Student Teaching
Successful completion of a semester-long student teaching experience is a required criterion for recommendation to take the appropriate Texas Examination of Educator Standards (TExES) to become certified to teach. For additional information, click on "Student Teaching" above.
Athletic Training
Athletic Training students are required to engage in clinical athletic training experiences by serving student athletes participating in Division I athletics programs. For additional information, click on Athletic Training above.
Health and Wellness Promotion
Health and Wellnes Promotion students participate in the on-going work of an official and/or voluntary health agency. The internship which occurs during the student's senior year is supervised by a member of the health education faculty. For additional information, click on "Health and Wellness Promotion" above.
Recreational Administration
Students participate in a credit-bearing internship at the administrative level in the ongoing work of a selected parks and recreation or therapeutic agency. The work is supervised by an agency representative and a faculty member trained in the recreation field.
Developmental and Adult Education
Students pursuing a master's degree in Developmental and Adult Education complete a 150-clock hour internship. The experience, which involves instruction and/or administration in a developmental education or adult education setting, includes orientation to the roles, responsibilities, and functions of professionals in developmental and adult education.
Principal
Successful completion of a year-long internship in a designated school setting is a required criterion for eligibility to take the Texas Principal TExES. Post-Baccalaureate Teaching internship
In some cases, post-baccalaureate students seeking an initial teaching certificate may be eligible to enroll in a year-long internship in lieu of student teaching. For additional information, contact Ms. Carolyn McCall in the Center for Student and Professional Services at cm08@txstate.edu.
Professional Counseling
Practicums and internships are integral components of the Professional Counseling course requirements. On-site practicum-internships occur in a school or agency setting with supervision by on-site and university supervisors. An advanced internship is required that provides experiences in supervising practicum or intern students and integrating the theoretical foundations and current issues of professional supervision.
School Psychology
