Associate Professor

Dr. Eric Schmidt joined the Division of Educational Research in July of 2008.  He is an Associate Professor in the Professional Counseling program at Texas State University and Director of the University's Assessment and Counseling Clinic. Dr. Schmidt holds a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from the University of North Texas, an M.Ed. in Counseling and Guidance from Corpus Christi State University, and a B.S. in Psychology from Texas A & M University in College Station, Texas.  His research interests include motivation and adherence to weight loss for children and adults, clinical supervision for chemical dependency counselors, and theoretical guidance and grounding. Dr. Schmidt serves on the board of the Hays/Caldwell Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse and is a member of the Ad Hoc Testing Committee for Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors.

Lenee Lovejoy,
Data Manager / Analyst

In August of 2007, a Data Manager position was created within The Division and Lenee Lovejoy was hired to

  • Conceptualize, design, and implement a Research Database to facilitate the conduct of qualitative, quantitative, mixed-method cross-sectional and longitudinal educational and interdisciplinary research.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data management system for the college. 


Lenee Lovejoy graduated with honors from the College of Natural Science and Mathematics at University of Houston. She began her career in the chemical manufacturing industry, focusing on the implementation of information infrastructures and emerging in-line chemical analytical systems for continuous quality improvement. Lenee has held IT positions in public schools and institutes of higher education, and served for two years as a quality examiner with the Greater Austin Quality Awards Program where she focused on quality improvement programs in public schools.

Former Associate Dean for Research
Dr. Larry Price
Served 2006 - June, 2008

Dr. Larry Price was the founding Director of the Division of Educational Research and served in that capacity from 2006 through May of 2008.  As founding Director, He assumed the responsibility for architecting a research infrastructure and creating a leading edge Education Research Center within the College of Education at Texas State University-San Marcos. He continues to serve as Director of the Education Research Center and full time faculty in the College of Education.  Visit the milestones page on this website for a list of milestones in the creation of the Division.


Dr. Price is a Professor of Psychometrics & Statistics in The Doctoral Program in Education at Texas State University.  He holds a Ph.D. in Higher Education Research, Measurement and Statistics from Georgia State University in Atlanta, and has held positions as Psychometrician/Statistician for the Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, and as Senior Psychometrician at The Psychological Corporation.  Dr. Price continues to serve as a consultant for a number of organizations in the private, higher education, and government sectors.

Dr. Rich Radcliffe
Fall 2007 - Spring 2008

In August of 2007, Dr. Rich Radcliffe joined the Division of Educational Research as the Assistant Dean for  Research. In this capacity he chaired the Research Committee, Grants Committee, and Professional Development Committee, and guided implementation of the Scholar Mentors Program and Faculty Fellows Program.

Dr. Radcliffe received his Ph.D. from the University of Denver and is currently an Associate Professor in the Curriculum and Instruction Department at Texas State University-San Marcos.  He has served as a middle school teacher and an administrator in higher education.  He teaches courses in research methods, middle school programming, and learning theory.
