Guiding Principles for Information Improvement Initiatives in COE

  • Information improvement initiatives within our College should align to College/Department/Program strategic plan goals, and reflect the University’s overall strategic plan goals.

  • All information initiatives within the College should be planned, prioritized and scheduled in a way that best serves the College as a whole; we will work together to develop and execute a College-wide information improvement plan.

  • Wherever possible, we will utilize information services, expertise, and support from other Texas State Information Service providers prior to developing a new data source or application within the College.

  • We recognize that Texas State’s central IT Division has obligations to support other units within the University as those units seek to carry out their own strategic plan goals.

  • Project management best practices will be applied to effectively manage information improvement projects within the College of Education.

  • Texas State Information Policies apply to information initiatives and databases within the College. These policies will be followed.

  • We encourage and reward value-added collaboration between individuals and groups working on the College’s information improvement initiatives.  These collaborations should be guided by University/College/Department/Program strategic plan goals and shared values.
