Guiding Principles for Information Improvement Initiatives in COE

Information improvement initiatives within our College should align to College/Department/Program strategic plan goals, and reflect the University’s overall strategic plan goals.
All information initiatives within the College should be planned, prioritized and scheduled in a way that best serves the College as a whole; we will work together to develop and execute a College-wide information improvement plan.
Wherever possible, we will utilize information services, expertise, and support from other Texas State Information Service providers prior to developing a new data source or application within the College.
We recognize that Texas State’s central IT Division has obligations to support other units within the University as those units seek to carry out their own strategic plan goals.
Project management best practices will be applied to effectively manage information improvement projects within the College of Education.
Texas State Information Policies apply to information initiatives and databases within the College. These policies will be followed.
We encourage and reward value-added collaboration between individuals and groups working on the College’s information improvement initiatives. These collaborations should be guided by University/College/Department/Program strategic plan goals and shared values.
