Doctoral programs in the College of Education build leadership by combining high levels of expectation with exceptional mentoring and support.
Rodney E. Rohde, a doctoral student in the College of Education majoring in Adult, Professional, and Community Education, has been awarded the 2007 Scientific Research Award by the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) in San Diego, California. Through Rodney Rohde's leadership in research, undergraduate students in Texas State's College of Health Professions gained valuable research experience and achieved excellence. ASCLS recognizes only one project in the entire United States each year for outstanding Clinical Lab Science research.
Rohde and his co-authors received the award for their work on a project titled “Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in a Texas Jail Population”. The research will be published in an upcoming edition of the Journal of Correctional Healthcare.
The project was a collaborative effort with Marilyn Felkner and colleagues from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). The research was supported by a research enhancement grant from Texas State and from DSHS sources.
