Our award-winning alumni have a special connection to the history of Texas State University.
When Texas State opened in 1903, then know as the Southwest Texas State Normal School, the mission of the university was to prepare Texas public school teachers.
Throughout its history, Texas State University has been and continues to be among the state's leaders in the number and quality of new educators.
Over the last century, the mission of the College of Education has expanded to include the professional preparation of educators at the master's and doctoral levels as well as the preparation of professionals in other fields such as recreation administration, health and wellness promotion, athletic training, health and fitness management, licensed professional counseling, and adult and developmental education.
Every year, Bobcats face a difficult decision of whether or not to begin or continue their education due to financial factors.
Through the amazing generosity of our scholarship donors, we are able to help offset some—if not all—of the costs for students to receive their education.
This program allows a Texas State alumni and friends to sponsor a K-12 classroom, preferably of a Bobcat alumnus, with a Texas State pennant, stickers, pencils and t-shirts for the students and teacher.
