Field Experience

All post-graduate teacher certification students must have a certification plan, which lists coursework and testing requirements for certification.  Remember that all students must complete field experience in the public schools during the long semester (spring or fall) prior to student teaching.

Field experience gives students the opportunity for hands-on experience in the classroom prior to student teaching. Students who opt to take the undergraduate-level courses (33xx-43xx) obtain field experience through their coursework as a part of the field-based blocks.

Students taking on-line or graduate-level courses (53xx) must complete field experience on their own.  Elementary, middle school, and secondary certification seeking students should plan to be available during the day in order to complete 30 hours of field experience.  Field experience should be completed in the long semester (spring or fall) prior to student teaching.  Please view the following forms for more details.
