Student teaching is the required culminating experience of the teacher certification process. This is a one-semester (six credit hours), unpaid, full-time experience in a local public school classroom. No other courses should be taken with student teaching without prior approval from the Co-Director of the Office of Educator Preparation.
We use many districts in Central Texas and along the IH35 corridor to place student teachers, and districts are subject to change each semester. Below you will find the districts that we use most of the time. When you apply for student teaching you will be allowed to chose two areas. Please note that secondary (8-12) student teachers may not go to the out-of-area districts.
