Bilingual Education Student Organization
Purpose: The purpose of B.E.S.O. is to create opportunities for students to exchange ideas, practices, and information about bilingual education on a local, state, and national level and promoting bilingual-bicultural education.  Our organization makes every effort to develop support groups, to grow professionally, and to serve the local bilingual community through various volunteer activities. Additionally, B.E.S.O. provides a means for recruitment of new Bilingual Education teachers, which is one of the highest-need teaching fields in Texas and throughout the nation.

Purpose: To facilitate and promote the transition from a College of Education doctoral student in School Improvement or Adult, Professional, and Community Education to professional practitioner by providing opportunities for professional growth, development, and advancement within the College of Education and the university community. In addition, the DSO seeks to help doctoral students navigate the obstacles, rewards, challenges, and support networks of academic life. Purpose: The principal purpose of Eta Sigma Gamma is to elevate the standards, ideals, competence and ethics of professionally trained men and women in and for the Health Science discipline. Eta Sigma Gamma's objectives clarify that the principal purpose can be achieved by: stimulating scientific research; facilitating communication and discussion between individuals, agencies, and governmental jurisdictions though the exchange of practices and philosophies; motivating service and academic achievement; recognizing service and academic achievement; developing methods, materials and programs; and raising professional standards and ethics.

Exercise and Sports Science Club
Purpose: Our goal is to provide professional opportunities to those interested through conducting meetings where guest speakers offer knowledge on different topics. We also make available the chance to attend conferences, conventions where students can actually experience professionalism. Social and community endeavors are also a large part of our club’s setting as evidenced in Tailgating, River Cleanup, Intramurals and other fun activities.

Kappa Delta Pi
Purpose: Kappa Delta Pi is an international honor society in education.  Founded in 1911, the organization has more than 55,000 members and 665 chapters worldwide. San Marcos Student Reading Council
Purpose: The San Marcos Student Reading Council (SMSRC) is an organization dedicated to promoting literacy, and is affiliated with the Texas State Reading Association and the International Reading Association.  Students who join (SMSRC) also become members of the Texas State Reading Association and receive quality educational publications that inform teachers of curring-edge teaching strategies.  There are multiple opportunities to enhance leadership skills.  At monthly meetings students hear from top-notch speakers who address topics related to classroom.

Student Council for Exceptional Children (SCEC)
Purpose: The Texas State University chapter of the Council for Exceptional Children supports the mission of the international, professional organization whose purpose is to further educational outcomes for individuals with exceptionalities. TSU students participate in activities that promote the welfare and education of persons with disabilities, including volunteering with Special Olympics, attending informational seminars, and teaming with other campus organizations with similar interests.
