Why Texas State?

Texas State teachers go above and beyond.

In 2017-2018, dozens of alumni transferred their teaching certificates to Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin, Australia, and Hong Kong!

Texas State teachers make an impression.

In a survey administered by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), Principals have the opportunity to rate first-year teachers. The Principal Survey consistently shows that Texas State teachers are prepared to maintain positive rapport with students' families. They know how to use technology with data, and they understand how to motivate students through learner-centered instruction.

Texas State teachers are a legacy.

The university opened in 1903 as a Normal School with the mission of preparing Texas public school teachers. Today, Texas State University continues to produce more public school teachers than any other university-based Educator Preparation Program in Texas. Our experienced faculty of former teachers design challenging curriculum that attracts talent from around the globe.
