Is fitness important for everyday life?

This project is feasible because it gives the student a chance to see that staying active is very important through self discovery.   It hit almost every TEKS in the PE discipline and it also has some science and technology in it too. It pertains real life and it allows for more question like "What activities are good for a particular part of the body?" And the information can be used for the rest of their lives.

Target Audience:

9-12 Grade Health Classes

Description:

Our project includes many things that will benefit the students. The students will learn valuable information on a variety of different topics that range from working out to the different systems of the body. The students will be able to use heart rate monitors as well as know how to read them. The students will keep a notebook that will contain all of the handouts and work sheets from class. This will help the students’ organization skills and will be a test grade at the end of the unit. The cognitive process will be utilized through cooperative learning in labs and by the group case study project.

Background:  Teacher will need prior knowledge of how to utilize heart rate monitors and how to get them to work if the student has trouble getting readings. The teacher will need to know how to use gym workout equipment properly.
