Overview

Liquid Explorations is geared towards grades 1-3.  Students will be observing, comparing, describing, and classifying liquids.  They will record this information and draw conclusions based upon it.  There are five activities that take approximately 30 minutes each.  In the first session, students will classify different liquids based on their observations.  During the second session, students will observe and describe the patterns of food coloring drops in water with different ingredients.  Activity three involves comparing and contrasting raindrops and oil drops.  Students will create an ocean in a bottle during session four and write short reports on what they discovered.  Finally, they will be creating their own salad dressing using two liquids that don't mix and other ingredients.
