Piper Professor Award

The Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation annually honors ten professors at Texas colleges and universities for outstanding achievement in the teaching profession. Full-time faculty who have seven or more years of experience at Texas State are eligible to receive this prestigious award.

Tenured faculty may request leave for one semester at their full salary or for one academic year at half their full salary. Prior to submission, applicants must discuss their FDL plans with their unit heads.

The Faculty Senate’s University Lecturers Committee reviews requests from colleges, schools, and departments for assistance to bring outstanding guest lecturers or mini-symposia speakers to Texas State University during the long semesters.

Non-tenure Line Faculty Workload Release
for Fall 2020 and/or Spring 2021 Release: must discuss proposal with chair by September 15 with applications due to Faculty Requests portal by October 8

This program allows full-time nontenure line faculty to receive a reduction of up to six workload credits of their normal semester teaching load, at full pay and benefits, to pursue scholarly/creative projects, curriculum development, or teaching improvement projects.

Research Enhancement Program
deadline falls in early October

The Research Enhancement Program is an internally funded grant competition that provides support for scholarly and creative activities. All Texas State full-time tenured and tenure-track faculty are eligible to apply, and Senior Lecturers may participate as co-investigators. Proposals are submitted online and due in early October.

Bobcat JEDI program 

J.E.D.I. = Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion

This program offers faculty and staff the opportunity to build competencies that will support a more inclusive environment at Texas State.  

The J.E.D.I. Program will include courses related to diversity, inclusion, multiculturalism, ability, social justice, and equity. Participants will be able to participate in courses that are offered throughout the year and online. 

International Research Accelerator (DATE TBD) 

The purpose of the IRA program is to accelerate research that will help achieve two or more of the following outcomes (more competitive proposals will link to multiple areas): 

  • Securing additional funding (U.S. based grants or international funds); 

  • Publication in peer-reviewed journal; 

  • Sustain and enhance partnership under a specific International Research Agreement; 

  • Increase student involvement in undergraduate or graduate research; 

  • Increase study abroad or research abroad opportunities; 

  • Conduct research that has an impact on a real-world problem; 

  • Conduct research that has an impact on underrepresented student and/or faculty populations.
